The Air Freight Manager is a key member of the company who is responsible for the Air Freight division’s success
in contributing to the achievement of company goals, objectives.
This individual plays an important role in expanding business & maintaining the smooth and efficient operations of their business unit.
The Manager is responsible for all the different aspects of Air Imports/Exports operation within the Toronto Branch.
The Air Freight Manager reports to the Toronto Branch Manager.


• Building, leading and streamlining the Air Freight Team, this involves improving and controlling the operational procedures,
  process mapping, negotiating rates, and maintaining customer relations.
• Plan, direct and coordinate different aspects of the sales activity & operating area of the Air Freight division
• Ensure that operations run smoothly and according to company policy
• Develop/maintain Air freight business for international and domestic clients
• Ensure that vendors and suppliers are properly compensated and continue to meet the needs of the company
• Responsible for the hiring of suitable team members
• Ensure accuracy in the compilation and presentation of reports
• Support sales & customer service activity for achieving the target
• Ensure that the marketing strategies are successfully implemented and are contributing to the revenue/profits of the company
• Responsible for the hiring of suitable team members
• Lead and motivate teams to achieve departmental goals, provide feedback, evaluate and manage the performance of employees, conduct annual evaluations
• Ensures that administrative services like paperwork and payroll matters are completed and addressed within deadlines
• Provide training and coaching to team members by ensuring employees are working in their assigned areas to provide adequate coverage for
  all processes which may include task delegation and follow up.
• Review claims resulting from missing or damaged cargo.
• Maintain professional and proactive communication with all department staff, internal and external customers.
• Provides advice on maintaining and improving cost effective ways to handle air freight, and make the job more efficient.
• Negotiate contracts with airlines & shipping partners.
• Maintain high levels of Customer Service, maintain integrity in the operation and effect a smooth running department
• Strategy and planning – including the development of operational strategies based on financial budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES (Experience, knowledge, competencies)

• Minimum 10 years of previous experience in Air Freight with 5 years experience in Supervisory/management role
• Good leadership skills with the ability to motivate the team
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Strong customer service skills and detail oriented.
• Understanding of CBSA Air Import and Air Exports requirements and practices
• Good networking and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude
• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, organize and prioritize work load in order to meet numerous deadlines.

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Computer skills; Microsoft office, email, internet explorer, etc. and ability to learn proprietary business software applications
• Able to work overtime when required


• College or university degree in business or commerce and/or combination of education and experience
• Industry related certifications, (CIFFA, CITT, CSCB) an asset

Compensation: 70K-80K area, plus extensive benefits
