The Release Clerk releases truck and rail electronically in order to expedite freight and / or goods through the border. Fills in the proper forms and maintain the imports log books. Tuesday-Saturday 4:00pm to midnight.
Prepares and/or verifies the documents required for truck and rail release of goods as per the requirements of U.S. Customs (Pro forma invoices, bonds, etc.)
Contacts clients, carriers and shippers in order to obtain missing information and/or documents.
Replies to requests for information from clients, suppliers or government employees.
Classifies the goods according to the Harmonized System.
Enters in the automated system the information related to the transaction for customs release (BCS and Line Release), preparation of 7501 and invoicing and transmits electronically info to U.S. Customs, etc.
Prepares document packages when required.
Performs general clerical tasks: photocopies, filling, completion of worksheet for billing purposes, office equipment operations, answers the phone, etc.
Carries out any particular task or mandate assigned by her/his superior and/or Management.
Conforms to any requirement of our Quality System and undertakes any action in order to ensure client satisfaction and/or increase our effectiveness or efficiency as a Company.
Formal Education High School GraduateMinimum 6 months in a customs related positionKnowledge / Skills Computer skills
