A well-established international freight forwarder in the Airport area is
looking for a Far East Imports
Customer Service Representative development person with 3-5 years
of experience
in freight forwarding, preferably Ocean Imports in Canada. You are the key
liaison with overseas agents.
They pride themselves on their service standards and personalized service. They
invest in systems
in order to assist their team in providing the best possible service and
just as importantly, they invest
in their people. Training of personnel and an “Open Door” policy provides a
comfortable atmosphere and
a good working environment.

- Communicate with overseas agents on shipments and routings
- Notify clients of their bookings and entering the booking details in System
- Update and send weekly cargo status reports to selected customers
- Follow up with customers on their POs and help arrange shipping schedule to
meet their needs
- Complete and follow up on ACI filings
- Follow up with agents insuring ACI details are received in the needed time
frame to file
- Follow up with the agents on cargo manifests and pre alerts
- Once cargo is loaded, update files in System and send full pre
alerts to customers
- Follow up with agents on shipping documents
- Match documents with the pre alerts / files opened, update and ensure
documents accuracy
- Inform agents of sell rates for profit share purposes
- Confirm that the invoices we are getting from agents are correct and are as
per sell / net rates
- Match the files with an updated quote and shipping instructions to ensure
correct, speedy
billing and handling
- Follow up on pre alerts, arrival dates and keep customers updated of status
- Follow up on manifest and invoices from steam ship lines and co loaders
- Confirm that what we are being billed from co loaders and steam ship lines is
correct
as per our updated rates on file
- Follow up on the ETA and departure to terminal destination and update
customers
- Follow up on leads and free hand cargo to secure new business
- Attend joint client visits
- Assist the ocean import team in the daily functions of ocean import operations
when
required, which includes;
- Handle FCL Shipments and de-consolidations
- Arrange shipments with agents
- Pre alerting customers
- Following up on ETA – Inform Customers accordingly
- Issue Manifests
- Issue delivery instructions & releases
- Billing & collecting funds on COD shipments
- Checking & approving agents debit/credit notes
- Checking & approving vendor invoices
- Preparing/approving profit share calculations
- Closing files
- Deal with customer satisfaction issues
- Communicating by fax, email and phone with the overseas agents regarding
shipment
updates and pickups
- Other department related duties

- 3 to 5 years of Ocean Imports experience in International
Freight Forwarding in Canada
