Our client is a well-established Customs Broker and Freight Forwarder with a
globally-recognized
name and reputation in the industry. An opportunity exists to join an
experienced team of
Customs professionals, ocean/air/truck rating and clearing in all modes, HVS and
LVS.

This position has come about as the result of expanded growth in the department.

- HS Tariff classifications using the Harmonized System to classify to products
and commodities
- Import/Export permits for Canadian Controlled Goods through EICS.
- Liaison with Steamship Lines, Air Carriers, Ground Carriers to establish
shipment status.
- Prepare and submit B3s to CBSA for timely Customs clearances
- Assist customers with customs processes in all modes of transport
- Communicate with CBSA and EICB officers regarding customs regulations, import
permits and clearances.
- Prepare and present manual release documentation to customs, including
Carnet, Y50, E29B,
and Value included entries.
- Assist customers with customs issues (i.e. tariff treatment, classification,
proof or origin, filing Exporter
Statement of Origin and NAFTA Certificate, etc.) by email or telephone.
- Register and set up Export and Import Business codes for new clients.
- Audit and review customs entries to ensure correct information.
- Request and verify supporting documentation for compliance purposes.
- B2 adjustments (refunds, amends) to CBSA within prescribed time limits.
- Analyze relationship between the vendor and importer; choose correct valuation
method to calculate
customs duty, GST, Excise tax and SIMA.
- Maintain database to ensure HS classification accuracy.
- Follow up with warehouse and trucking company to ensure released shipments
delivered without delay.
- Coordinate with clients and carriers to expedite shipments.

3 to 5 years customs
rating and releasing knowledge and experience
- Good familiarity with HS/Cadex/Across/ACE/PARS and other current
initiatives
- Data entry (open customers' files, validate information, credit and
invoicing)
- Experience in collecting supplementary information or documentation as
needed from customers,
CBSA, carriers and other government departments
- Identify customers profiles discrepancies, attention to detail and
accuracy.
- Proactive attitude in following up issues with customers, CBSA,
carriers.

Strong analytical, organizational, communicational and problem solving skills.
Education:
- CCS Designation or working towards it
- Minimum high school graduate, preferably some college
Attributes:
- Team player, Self starter and motivated. Professional and excellent
communication skills.
